And the winner is …

Y el ganador es … - Chair and Work

Gold Award for Wilkhahn: Wilkhahn's special commitment to sustainability issues convinced the expert jury from renowned architecture and interior design firms.

For the tenth time, the Heinze-Verlag presented the Architects' Darling Award in various categories. In addition to a building market research area and extensive databases, the publisher also includes renowned media such as the Baunetz online platform, the Journal magazine and the Baunetz Interior Design online magazine. Almost 200 manufacturers competed in the 25 categories, with 1,900 architects deciding on the prize winners.

The 12 thematic awards were once again exciting and were decided by a top-level jury made up of 21 architecture and interior design offices. After Wilkhahn was awarded the Gold Cradle-to-Cradle Challenge last year, we were able to beat some strong competition in the anniversary year. The jury was based on the new sustainability report published in the summer and on information from the web. The evaluation criteria were the content of the information, credibility, factual orientation and transparency, ecological and social commitment, as well as the status quo achieved and perspectives.

Jörg Hofmann (right), Wilkhahn's director of quality and sustainability, accepted the award from publisher Markus Retkowski (left) in a very small circle.

In times of Corona, the prize winners were announced and awarded on November 16, 2020 at a digital event. Jury spokesman and laudator Mathias Fischer of AllesWirdGut Architektur ZT, who was connected via the live stream, emphasized that the importance of sustainability was evident from the number and quality of submissions and the importance of well-founded information. beyond "greenwashing", especially for architects and planners.

But Heinze insisted on presenting the certificates (in the office products category, Wilkhahn received the silver) and the gold award in person on November 23, 2020.

In a very small circle and in the presence of the press, the representative of the publishing house Markus Retkowski handed over the heavy statue to Jörg Hofmann, who is primarily responsible for sustainability management at Wilkhahn.

The fact that architects in particular, with their special responsibility for the future, particularly appreciate the commitment, is both a prerequisite and an incentive for Wilkhahn to continue to deliver the best performance in terms of sustainability.

A holistic approach to sustainability: Wilkhahn furniture is not only characterized by its health-promoting ergonomics, ... but also by its durability and ease of repair.
